Solid state (LED) technologies for water management
Ultraviolet (UV) light can be used to identify contaminants, kill pathogens, remove micro pollutants and measure water quality. Emerging UV Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) offer the benefits of low operating costs, high levels of control and mercury free operation. NUUV has developed and patented a range of technologies to harness the benefits of solid-state UV LED technologies. NUUV’s technologies improve public health, water quality, resource efficiency, and reduce energy consumption and carbon production.

Measuring and Monitoring
Ultra Violet Transmissivity (UVT) is a key reportable quality metric for managing carcinogenic disinfection byproducts in municipal and industrial water treatment. Accurate UVT analysis helps maximize plant efficiency, reduce chemical consumption and maintain quality.
Water Treatment
UV water treatment is a chemical free method of removing pathogens and other contaminants. unlike chlorine, UV is effective against all organisms and generates no toxic residuals. UV Disinfection

The NUUV team developed, validated and own the IP for the worlds largest UV LED water disinfection system. Six of these systems were delivered to United Utilities. We have under development a modular mid-scale unit.
UV Advanced Oxidation (AOP)
​
UV energy in combination with specific reagents and catalysts can be used to break down micro pollutants. The NUUV team has successfully run the largest trials on the removal of a persistent odour forming contaminant common in water treatment.
